In regards to the latest AvX storyline. His theory was that the Phoenix would jumpstart the rebirth of the mutant population via Hope Summers, and when that actually happens, they all criminalize him for it.

Or maybe they imprisoned him for killing Professor X, but hey, dude was drunk on immense cosmic dark power and immensely regrets that decision. Cut him some slack. Xavier was like a father to Scott.

...A somewhat jerk of a father with dark secrets and regrets but still, a father who tried to do right by this mutant boy, orphaned in a tragic plane crash. Oh wait. Scott's dad is still alive and actually a space pirate. Who cheated on his mom with a space cat alien. And then there's Scott's son. Who he now never actually gave birth to. Visits him from time to time from the future and is now far older than him. Comics are weird.
