That part that I highlighted in yellow? THAT WAS THE EXACT PLOT OF THE FIRST XMEN MOVIE MADE IN 2000. Which means if they use this as a way of rebooting the series, then they wrote a backdoor into the storyline 12 years ago. And if they did that on purpose, they deserve a giant cake.
See, I realized like the day they announced they were doing Days of Future Past that this could be the best way to undo X3: The Last Stand and start doing more X-Men in the present day movies. In a Abrams Star Trek way. And they totally are gonna do it.
